Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Masters degree (required)

  • LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Resident in Counseling in Virginia 

  • *Interest or experience working with children, couples, or families is preferred.

  • Within commuting distance (or willing to relocate) to Fairfax, VA office; maximum of 50% of hours can be telehealth

  • Knowledge of ethical, research based modes of psychotherapy/counseling

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with team members, clients, and other clinicians

  • Demonstrated ability to perform clinical interviews to develop and execute effective treatment plans

  • Willingness to provide advocacy, when appropriate, to support client treatment plans

  • Knowledge of gender-affirming care or plan to seek training related to gender-affirming care within the mental health field; commitment to LGBTQIAP+  affirming therapeutic approach

Clinician Duties:

  1. Provides an array of outpatient mental health services to promote individualized patient mental wellness.

  2. Prepares for and conducts intakes and therapeutic sessions for individual, group, and/or family therapy.

  3. Performs mental health assessments, develops treatment plans, and conducts reviews as needed throughout the duration of treatment.

  4. Provides psychoeducation when appropriate to the therapeutic need/goals of the client.

  5. Provides counseling, referrals, and intervention services as it pertains to the needs/goals of the client.

  6. Addresses how issues affect a client's health and relationships as it pertains to the needs/goals of the client. 

  7. Helps clients develop skills and strategies to cope with and change their behavior as it pertains to the needs/goals of the client.

  8. Provides mental health tools to help clients make decisions about their future as it pertains to the needs/goals of the client.

  9. Suggests additional community resources available to the client, like a support group. 

  10. Completes and maintains confidential documentation in a timely and accurate manner and according to Federal, State and company guidelines (within 24 hours of session). 

  11. All discharged client’s session notes will be maintained for 5 years after the discharge session or after automatic discharge of 90 days with no contact from client per company policy.

  12. Writes reports to court, school, or other agencies as necessary with a written request from the client or parent if client is a minor.

  13. Follows up with psychiatrists and/or attending physicians in cases involving hospital admissions, partial hospitalization (PHP), or intensive outpatient (IOP) care to maintain continuity of care.

  14. Collaborates with external psychiatric care and/or medical providers to provide continuity of care.

  15. Collaborates with representatives from civic assistance programs or community agencies to assist clients when needed.

  16. Coordinates scheduling with new and active clients to include maintaining a personal schedule of appointments; works with established clients to cancel or reschedule appointments; schedules intake or consultation appointments for new clients when contacted directly.

  17. Collects session fees for all billable sessions at each session; collects fees for all billable work within 24 hours of service.

  18. Obtains and maintains release of confidential information consent forms (ROI) from clients (parents if client is a minor) before speaking with any external person(s) including but not limited to family members without legal parental authority, attorneys, schools, workplace, medical, mental health, or other psychiatric professionals.

  19. Maintains active status and maintains compliance of all requirements for active state licensure in which the counselor/therapist is license to practice.

  20. Attending company meetings and training as required by the company.

  21. Maintains work timesheet daily and submits completed timesheet to their manager as mandated by the company.

  22. Coordinates with other clinicians for emergency services for active clients when out of the office for extended personal time off.

  23. Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time-off policies.
